Earlier this month, we talked a little about Sharpie’s new liquid pencils that they claim writes as smooth as a pen. The first reviews for these new pencils have hit the net, and they’re less than flattering. Looking at the customer reviews over at Amazon, many people are unhappy with the pencils’ performance, calling it “splotchy” and that it “skips a lot.” Hopefully the folks over at Sharpie address these complaints with a revised design.

This review sort of reminds me of my impressions of the erasable pens that they had in the early 80’s.
But they sure were great for school assignments that required things to be written in pen. Back before word processors and printers. Boy do I suddenly feel old.

I like the concept but the reviews kept me away. I’m glad I listened.

I do remember PaperMate’s erasable pens (really hated those!), but from the late 80s early 90s.
I’m pretty disappointed to see so many negative reviews for the pencils. While I didn’t want to be an early adopter myself, I was really looking forward to trying them out.

Yeah, I recall those erasable pens. I rather disliked the fact that most of the tech was in the eraser and that you were highly likely to tear up what you were trying to erase. I knew kids who had them and that’s how I got to try them out. Of course this is why I got into mechanical pencils and all manner of gadgetry.
